The Poznań part of the edition of the Vampire this year was held under the Culture Centre Castle / photograph Olwia Maziopa (Fenestra)Autumn aura, warm tea in your hand and a bloodbus parked right under the majestic Imperial Castle. This was the 2 days of this year's Vampirea, a unique action of honorary blood donation organized by the Independent Association of UAM Students. On October 13 and 14, Poznań proved that there are no shortages of people willing to share what is most precious.
Already from the early morning hours on Monday, a queue of volunteers was set up in the parking lot at CK ZAMEK. About 15 people showed up before 8:00 p.m., and with all hr of attendance they arrived. After a short wait, each associate went to the bloodstream, where he had a medical interview, completed a survey and donated blood. The full process ended with a symbolic treat and a gift package from the organizers and the Regional Center for Blood and Physiology.
"In erstwhile years we had about 50 donors. This time, we have been firmly committed to promotion and we hope that we will be able to get close to a hundred, due to the fact that so many people are able to service a bloodbus." It is an invitation not only for UAM students, but besides for the full academic community of Poznań and the city's inhabitants. Therefore, this year we left the walls of the University and organized an event under the Castle Culture Centre. We wanted to be visible and open to everyone.”
In just 2 days, 61 people donated blood, which allowed to collect precisely 26,922 liters of life - giving fluid. That's not all – 13 participants enrolled in the bone marrow donor database, and a full of 90 people appeared in the bloodstream. Those who failed to donate blood on the place were directed to the Regional Center for Blood and Bloodletting at Marcelińska Street and many of them utilized this opportunity. Vampiriada is already a tradition in the Poznań academic calendar – it combines the thought of aid with the spirit of the community. all drop of blood given at the Castle is simply a real hope for patients hospitals throughout Wielkopolska.
