At the age of 99, Polish bishop died Julian Wojtkowski. The last Polish bishop and 1 of the last clergymen who was a prisoner of German concentration camps. peculiar attention was paid by the bishop to promoting the thought of Polishness of Warmia and Mazury.
He was the oldest bishop of the Catholic Church in Poland. Bishop Julian Wojtkowski was born on 31 January 1927 in Poznań, where he graduated from universal school in 1939. After the war, he was arrested and imprisoned with his parents and siblings in a German concentration camp “Lager Glowno – Posen Ost”. Then they were transported by the first transport to Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
He earned a tiny degree in secret teaching of Kielce land in 1944, a certificate of maturity of the mathematical and physical advanced school in Lublin 1945.
From 1945 to 1950 he studied at the Lublin Seminary of the spiritual for the Diocese of Warmina. He received priestly ordination and master's theology in 1950. After studying dogmatic theology at the Catholic University of Lublin, he obtained a PhD in 1953. From 1952 to 2005, he taught at the Warmia Seminary of the Spiritual, the Warmia Institute of Theology and at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He habilitated on the Pontifical Theological Faculty in Krakow 1968.
He was ordained bishop in 1969. Consecrators were the primate of Poland Card. Stefan Wyszynski and Warmia bishops Józef Drzazga and Jan Obłąk. Extraordinary prof. of the Pontifical Theological Academy in Krakow appointed 1987, average prof. 1997.
