On the occasion of the feast of the General Staff of the Polish Army, before its office there was a ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the monument of the first Chief of Staff, General of Arms Tadeusz Rozwadowski. – Let this place remind the next generation of officers that the past of the Polish Army begins with people who believed in free Poland – said General Wiesław Kukuła, head of SGWP.

The General Staff of the Polish Army is celebrated on 25 October, but this year's celebrations were planned the day before. The main point was to build the foundation stone for the monument Gen. Brona Tadeusz Jordan-Rozadowski before the SGWP building. In October 1918, the general headed the recently created General Staff of the Polish Army and began organizing central military institutions and fresh branches of the WP. And although after a period he resigned as a consequence of a dispute with Marshal Józef Piłsudski about the way the Polish army was created, on July 22, 1920, he was again entrusted with the function of Chief of the General Staff. He held that position throughout his life Warszawski Battle, being 1 of the commander-in-chief on the Polish side.

President: The work of the Staff is increasing

"For over a 100 years now, the General Staff has been liable for planning the improvement of the Polish Armed Forces. In these hard times, erstwhile the conditions of safety around Poland are changing rapidly, this work is even greater," wrote Karol Nawrocki in a letter addressed to command and soldiers. On the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the appointment of the General Staff, the president besides recalled that the importance of the chief military institution intended for command, but besides for the creation of a imagination of the future army, cannot be diminished. "The individual possible of the General Staff, which is the sum of the experiences of all the planners, commanders and specialists working in it, is simply a key added value to be full exploited", noted the Head of the Armed Forces. Thank you very much for the many initiatives of the General Staff to keep generation continuity in the Armed Forces of Poland and to proceed their boastful history," wrote the President.

General Kukuła besides spoke about the function of the staff in the modern army. – Today's General Staff of the Polish Army is simply a modern center for planning and managing armed forces.
