Fascism? Trumpism in the eyes of an American historian

"Some elements of Trumpism match the fascism of the 1930s. A good example is obsession with the figure of a leader or copying the Roman salute. Similarly, certain aspects of customs policy mention to the autarkia programs of that period. But modern populism should be understood in the context of the economy and society of the 21st century. Fascism was so frequently utilized as an insult that it became unusable as an analytical category," says Larry Wolff, a historian at the University of fresh York.
