Today in Jurkovskaya in Podkarpacie, started Ukrainian-inspired exhumation of UPA members. According to Ukrainian historians, there are about 20 people in the grave there. The IPN's approval concerns a full of 4 locations, although as the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Culture Andrij Najos acknowledged, there will be more applications.
In Poland there were exhumations of criminals from UPA. As it turns out, fresh exhumations of Polish victims of Ukrainian genocide in Puźniki, Ukraine, took place on the basis of a peculiar agreement by which specified Ukrainians can exhume their people in Poland. The decision to exhume in Poland was made in June 2025 and next to Jurkokova, besides includes Łasków close Hrubieszów and the cemetery in Przemyśl.
The Warsaw Government thus opened the way for searches and burials with honors worthy of good origin of those who fought in a criminal formation, liable for genocide in Volyn and east Małopolska.
In theory, Ukrainian and Polish IPN treat exhumations as an component of dialog and political cooperation, as evidenced by Alexander Alfiorov's fresh visit to Poland and his words about "common opposition to Russia". The Polish side presents this as a motion of building relations, but it must be made clear: it is besides an act of symbolic rehabilitation of Nazi collaborators from UPA, who, according to the orders of their command, began to present themselves as pro-Western Democrats, fighting against evil Bolshevikism from 1944.
By agreeing to the exhumation of members of the UPA band, Poland indirectly recognized the flag road to building the identity of modern Ukraine. As a result, at any minute we can anticipate solemn burials of bandits from UPA in Poland and Ukraine and fresh monuments about how they conducted a "nobility" fight. Of course, there will be no place for a list of Polish civilian victims of their “fight for independent Ukraine”.
