W.P. Chicheł: The day that changed Polish women

The sex of beauty in Poland was associated mainly with conservatism, modesty or deficiency of lewdness. The image of “Mother Polka” – the parents – was a model for years. Although they were promoted socially from 1918 and rapidly aligned with men in laws or positions, they were characterized by piety and commitment to the family. The times of the Polish People's Republic did not even change Polish girls very much. This happened only after more than 25 years of the 3rd Poland. I myself was shocked by how many of my friends changed their minds at the moment.

The National Women's Strike on October 3, 2016, due to its scope, had a crucial influence on the change of attitude of Poles, mainly women, to the abortion bill, and even more so to abortion itself. They spread arguments against tightening the bill and another way of talking about abortion, thus bringing extremist and feminist positions to the public. Poles began to ask themselves questions, they learned about statistics, the abortion underground, they learned a lying language that they could criticize the applicable abortion law. It was clearly shown the imaginary consequences of specified a law, indicating the "mythical" criminality of women, prison, the necessity to bear children conceived as a consequence of a criminal act specified as rape or incest, endangering the life of a woman. The proposal to change the law was called "scandalous", "unlawful", "anti-female", "anti-citizen" and threatening women's freedom in Poland. Attention has besides been paid to complicated relations between the doctor – pregnant woman, the introduction of an atmosphere of fear, the unclear situation in the event of a miscarriage, which is the favourite argument of the left.

Events 3 October 2016 can be considered 1 of the first nationwide actions in many years to rise the subject of abortion in public space. More than 215 000 users were online. Since the beginning, the organizers have objected to the civilian draft abortion bill submitted by the Committee on Abortion Stop. The materials available during this period on the event website are primarily photographs of participants and participants of strikes organised in various localities in Poland and around the world, presenting crowds, individuals, banners. A large emphasis was placed on decentralizing the event and shifting the focus point to strikes in smaller towns to emphasize the universality of the thought of a National Women's Strike. This can be seen in the publications of organizers encouraging to share relations with manifestations that did not attract the attention of nationwide media to map all initiatives.

Since then, Poland has occasionally shaken feminist environments and their raised clangor towards an event that does not concern the law and existing countertypes. However, the culmination was almost a period of speeches following the judgement of the Constitutional Court on 22 October 2020, which took on the dimension of a very brutal, anti-Catholic-designated, abstracted from hatred towards the rulers. The hue of these 2 events continues to this day, as many friendships or unions have broken down in the polarization and divisions among Poles. Both events took place in October – a period dedicated to the parent of God and prayer of the Rosary. TK's conviction was a large success, but b very bitter after what happened later.
