Among the speakers were erstwhile Social Democratic Minister of abroad Affairs of Denmark and president of the UN General Assembly in 2015-16 Mogens Lykkettoft. “We must fight for our rations in the UN, where most countries will condemn American aggression towards Greenland and then turn straight to 70% of Americans who argue the conquest of the island,” Lykketoft said.

On the basis of a digital tool to find the size of the assembly, the Berlinske paper estimated that 3.3 1000 people had gathered in Copenhagen. In turn, 100-300 people were to protest in Aarhus.
J. D. Vance’s visit to Greenland
Friday a visit to the U.S. military space base Pitufik in Greenland was made by U.S. Vice president J.D. Vance. A Trump associate criticised the Danish authorities for allegedly neglecting defence investments in Greenland, and proposed that the island be placed on a safety umbrella alternatively of Denmark.
Earlier, a delegation from the U.S. government led by Vance’s wife Ushy was to visit Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, and to admire the dog squad race in Sisimiut. Following protests by the Greenland Government and the local population, these plans were cancelled.
