The Sejm passed a bill on Friday that would reduce the wellness contribution for entrepreneurs. The change is expected to cost PLN 4.6 billion, it will enter into force from the beginning of 2026. According to the Ministry of Finance, about 2.5 million entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the reform. The bill provoked opposition to part of the government coalition.

213 Members voted in favour of the amendment to the wellness Care Act, and any another laws voted against 190 Members and 25 abstained. Now the fresh goes to the Senate.

Both the task itself and the decision of the Sejm triggered a wave of comments on social media.

"Can you? We have reduced the wellness contribution by maintaining a evidence wellness budget [...]. Members of the Left, Together and the Law and Justice who voted against simply do not understand," he wrote on platform X Speaker of the Sejm Simon Holovnia.

"We are finished with the absurdities of the Polish Deal. We introduce a fresh wellness contribution solution, which will benefit up to 2.5 million Polish entrepreneurs – those tiny and medium-sized ones. The cost of improvement will be borne entirely by the state budget," he wrote Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski.

"The Tusk government will now take billions more. More queues to the doctor will be extended, surgeries cancelled. For your liberal populism, thousands of patients will pay for their wellness and lives. And that will be your responsibility," he wrote MP Together Adrian Zandberg.

"The Sejm has just adopted a bill that will make them pay a lower wellness contribution from 2026. Polish Deal goes to the waste of history," he pointed out Polish MEP 2050 Ryszard Petru, adding that ‘he is aware of the flaws of this law’.
