At the end of April this year, there were more fast charging stations for electrical cars in Shenzhen than gas stations. This is the first case in China.
For the sake of clarity, this is about charging stations, not charging points. ShenZhen charging stations let the electrical car battery to be charged up to 80% of its capacity in no more than 10 minutes.
At the end of 2023, there were 970 000 NEV (New Energy Vehicles) registered in ShenZhen, which accounted for 60% of all vehicles registered in this metropolis.
In ShenZhen, where presently lives 17.79 million people, by the end of 2025 the number of registered NEV cars is expected to scope the level of 1.3 million.

Volkswagen China Technology Company (VCTC, chin. 大众汽车中国技术公司) organised a foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the 3rd phase of the Chinese investigation and improvement centre and test track in mid-May. It will be the largest investigation and improvement centre of the Volkswagen Group outside Germany. It is located in HeFei, capital of the east state of AnHui. The task of the 3rd phase of the construction center covers an area of about 110 1000 square meters. Construction, as planned, will be completed by 2027. Workshops are presently being built here, which will be commissioned in 2025 (phase II). The R&D Center Volkswagen China Technology Company in HeFei began operations this year ( Phase I). According to the information provided by the Volkswagen Group, the full investment is EUR 1 billion (about PLN 4.26 billion).
According to the VCTC, the centre of HeFei will let companies to investigation and make platforms for electrical cars, complete vehicles, parts and components, as well as make solutions for intelligent autonomous vehicles.
