Venezuelan authoritarianism in practice, or the function of SEBIN in maintaining Maduro regime

According to Gaceta Oficial de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, SEBIN was created in 2010 as the successor to Dirección de los Servicios de Inteligencia y Prevención (DISIP), dissolved by decision of president Hugo Chávez. The authoritative government communicative presented this change as a improvement to break off the repressive legacy of the erstwhile service.
