Simulators are a basic tool for training pilots of modern military aircraft. They let to safely teach soldiers not only to operate a peculiar aircraft model, to deploy basic devices and systems, but above all to operate in circumstantial situations – from combat missions to events called "special", i.e. various types of failures and failures.
When the Ministry of Defence decided to procure FA-50 in version GF and FA-50PL, it was clear that pilots must have a simulator designed for them. due to the fact that it was decided that FA-50 will be stationed at the air base in Minsk Mazowiecki, it was there 3 years ago that preparations for the construction of the FA-50 aircraft training centre, whose heart will be simulators: missions (Full Mission Simulator, FMS) and the alleged Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) for general aviation training.
As Colonel Adam Kalinowski, commander of the 23rd Tactical Aviation Base explains, simulators have been operating in the base for respective weeks now, intended for training FA-50GF pilots. And erstwhile the first FA-50PL machines scope Poland, another school equipment created for them will be sent to the base.
The FA-50GF pilot simulator is simply a large simplification equipped with the most crucial compartment equipment of the aircraft, in which pilots can learn how to operate it, as well as training in various types of emergency situations. – The cab is not placed on a mobile platform, as in most specified simulators in the world, due to the fact that in the process of training military pilots there is no request for the cockpit to move," said Colonel Kalinowski. It is not a precedence to map the impression of flight. As the commander adds, it is much more crucial to train procedures in certain situations, from combat missions to alleged peculiar situations. – For example, there are all types of failures and faults that can happen during a real flight. Thanks to training in the simulator, the pilot can train step by step the appropriate procedures," explains the commander of 23 Bases. It emphasizes that the simulator allows the pilot to prepare for combat flights in about 95%.
Safe teaching on earth is not all. The simulator besides saves crucial amounts that would consume An exercise in the air of combat missions, flights in formation or attacking air or land targets. “The flight time of the aircraft is immense fuel costs, but besides the consumption of key components of the aircraft,” said Colonel Kalinowski.
Two FA-50GF cabins presently installed in Minsk will be completed in any time by 2 more – designed for FA-50PL machines. These aircraft will be equipped with more advanced avionic systems, including active radar, and will have a larger scope of weapons available.
– We plan to upgrade the current simulators in the future so that they will enable training of FA-50PL pilots, including from refuelling in the air and handling of fresh types of weapons - said Colonel Kalinowski.
