USS Gettysburg shot down an F/A-18F Super Hornet

On December 21, the United States Department of defence reported an incidental that took place in the waters of the Red Sea. The cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) mistakenly shot down a Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet multirole combat aircraft.
