Donald Trump's U.S. administration decided to temporarily suspend aid schemes, including grants and loans, which provoked outrage from Democrats in Congress. This decision aims to align government actions with the President's priorities, including a review of actions related to diversity, equality and inclusion programmes (DEI) and another initiatives Trump has criticised on many occasions.
President Trump's administration ordered national temporary agencies to halt the allocation and payment of funds. This includes both abroad aid and DEI programmes, sex ideology and climate initiatives related to the alleged Green fresh Deal. The introduction of the suspension, which begins on 28 January, is described in a memo by the Executive manager of the Management and Budget Office (OMB), Matthew J. Vaeth.

Democrat consequence in the US
The Trump administration's decision sparked a sharp reaction among Democrats who considered it "unprecedented" and "harmful". Senator Patty Murray and Rosa DeLauro's typical appealed in their letter for the immediate withdrawal of this decision, highlighting its possibly negative social and economical impact. They are afraid that the suspension of backing will affect key programmes at national and local level.
Time to analyse programmes
According to the memorandum, national agencies have until 10 February to study detailed information on the suspended programmes. The decision aims at enabling all programmes to be reviewed for compliance with the President's priorities and with national law. The agencies were besides required to identify those activities which arise from statutory obligations and cannot be interrupted.
