According to the document, the aim of the "One Flag" policy is to emphasise that the United States flag symbolizes justice, freedom and democracy, values that should bring together all citizens. The regulation is the direct other of Biden's decision to let Pride and Black Lives substance flags to be displayed in American embassies and another government buildings in erstwhile years. These actions generated widespread controversy, dividing public opinion and leading to lively political debates.

Pride Flag past in the USA
Pride movement flags first appeared on government buildings during Barack Obama administration. In 2019, the Trump administration introduced a ban on their hanging, which was revoked by Biden in 2021. However, in 2024, Biden's administration limited the anticipation of hanging these flags under a $1.2 trillion budget bill.
It is worth recalling that in 2023 the Republicans presented the "One Flag for All Act" Act, which proposed a complete ban on any flags another than the US on national buildings. Although the bill did not enter into force, it was a clear signal of opposition to the Biden administration's decision.
New priorities in the State Department
Taking over the office, Donald Trump announced the reorganization of the State Department, which would include, among others, the appointment of fresh people to key operational positions. It has been confirmed that the "One Flag" policy is to be 1 of the pillars of the fresh approach to US abroad policy.
