The U.S. Armed Forces Command in the region urged Hamas to immediately halt force against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. "We powerfully call on Hamas to immediately halt force and shoot innocent Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip" - said General Bradley Cooper, who heads the CENTCOM command.
Hamas safety forces reported on Monday that they shot 32 "gang members" in the city of Gaza. On the same day, Hamas media released a video of 8 men's executions, describing them as "collaborators and criminals", on which "the opposition carries out the death penalty".
A clash with local clans
The media has already reported on the deadly clashes between Hamas forces and the fighters from the Dugmus clan, 1 of the most influential groups in the Gaza Strip. During the war, any clan structures attempted to take control of parts of the Gaza Strip, and any of them were media supported by Israel.
U.S. president Donald Trump said on Sunday that Hamas received a temporary approval to "fight crime". On Tuesday he added that he was not afraid about the killings of Hamas in the Gaza Strip due to the fact that the group is fighting "very bad gangs".
Disarmament call
Cooper added in a Wednesday message that Hamas should immediately lay down his weapon, surrender his power and follow Trump's peace plan. The second phase of the agreement implies Hamas's laying down of arms, the transfer of power to the Palestinian Interim Administration under global supervision and reconstruction of the territory.
As of Friday, the first phase of the truce, Israeli troops withdrew from parts of the Gaza Strip, but inactive control about half of the territory. There has besides been an exchange of live Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, but Hamas has not yet released the bodies of all the dead hostages.
CENTCOM is to lead the mission of about 200 American soldiers to support stabilisation efforts in the Gaza Strip from Israel. The American military will not be sent straight to Palestinian territory.
