US president Donald Trump's peculiar envoy for Belarus John Coale thanked Belarusian leader Alaxandrov Lukashenko on Thursday for pardoning 18 political prisoners.
The Belarusian side reported 18 pardoned persons, including 15 political prisoners.
"This is another crucial step in the relations between the US and Belarus, as president Trump has entrusted me with the task of bringing all political prisoners back," said Coale, who participated in negotiations on the release of erstwhile prisoners by the Minsk regime.
