USA/ FBI Chief: Russia-related hackers attack IM users

FBI chief Kash Patel reported present on the recognition of Russian-related hackers, attacking communicators users, including erstwhile and current representatives of U.S. government, military and journalists.

"The FBI has identified cybernetic entities associated with Russian intelligence attacking users of commercial communicators specified as Signal," wrote Patel on X.

He added that hackers attack people who are crucial from an intelligence point of view, including current and erstwhile representatives of US authorities, military personnel, politicians and journalists.

Patel stated that "these actions led to unauthorized access to thousands of individual accounts". "After gaining access, attackers can view messages and contact lists, send messages on behalf of the victim and carry out further phishing attacks utilizing a trusted identity," the FBI chief alarmed.
