The USS Zumwalt Destroyer (DDG 1000) successfully completed naval trials after a comprehensive modernization that turned it into the first U.S. Navy unit capable of carrying hypersonic weapons. Thus a fresh chapter in the past of these conceptually ambitious but yet problematic ships was opened.
