Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said in an interview with Fox Business that Canada has a socialist government and charged her with her life at the expense of StanThe United States.
"She (Canada – ed.) practically parasitized us for decades... He has this socialist regime," he noted.
According to Latnick, an upcoming US president Donald Trump gathering with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Washington will be interesting. He added that he was skeptical about his outcome.
Carney retained the Prime Minister's seat after his Liberal organization won the parliamentary election last week. The key issue of the run was the future of Canadian-American relations and Canada itself in the face of American customs and trade war, as well as Trump's calls for Canada to become the "51st state of the United States".
Trump had previously referred to the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “the politician of the large state of Canada” in connection with controversy over the possible imposition by the United States of customs duties on Canadian goods. Trump later said that Canada could avoid trade duties imposed by Washington and receive military protection if it became part of the United States.
Trudeau assured that Trump would never annex Canada, despite the claims of the American leader of the future collapse of the Canadian economy. During the Carney campaign, he besides assured that his country would never become a part of the United States and suggested that the president of the United States was waiting for the result of the elections in Canada before the settlement talks began.
Carney told reporters last week that he called Trump; during the interview the American president did not endanger to make Canada the 51st state of the United States and did not rise the subject at all.
