US buying spree in March, evidence trade deficit

Everyone in the United States, consumers and businesses, wanted to get in on the act in March before the fresh tariffs went into effect. The trade deficit jumped $17.3 billion, or 14 percent, to a evidence $140.5 billion, according to the Commerce Department’s Office of economical Research. It was $68.6 billion a year earlier. Economists polled by Reuters had expected a deficit of $137 billion.
