Ursus – the victim of transformation or intentional action?
"Ursus was destroyed in the 1990s so that there was no competition with Western companies erstwhile we entered the European Union" – says Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski. The erstwhile Minister of Agriculture and agrarian improvement in a conversation with Radio Wnet leaves no uncertainty – Ursus's plants, erstwhile producing any of the best tractors in Europe, were deliberately weakened to facilitate expansion in the Polish market.
Ardanowski emphasizes that Ursus could last the economical transformation if only his offer was upgraded. “Add a small «disaine», any electronics and improve them towards ergonomics” – he says. Instead, the company was brought down, and abroad brands took its place.
Were the Secret Service involved?
The politician suggests that peculiar services may have been active in the liquidation of Ursus. "When there was inactive an effort to save the Ursus brand..., this was struck by imports of tractors from Belarus, to which individual agreed. The strings alternatively indicate that the peculiar services were active in this.” – reveals Ardanowski.
Belarusian tractors were mass imported to Poland in 2016–2017. Many farmers chose to buy them, unconsciously contributing to Ursus' final fall. However, it turned out that this equipment did not meet EU standards. "Now there is drama due to the fact that these tractors did not have the European Union type-approval right and now a fewer 1000 tractors are ordered to be withdrawn from usage by farmers" – added erstwhile Minister.
The collapse of the icon of Polish industry
The court declared Ursus' bankruptcy in July 2021. The company, founded in 1893 in Warsaw, for decades was a symbol of the Polish method thought. During her prime time, she employed 800 workers and exported machines worldwide. Today, its past is an example of how political and economical decisions can destruct even the most forward-looking enterprises.
