Growing electricity prices and gas hits the budgets of millions of Poles. In consequence to the energy crisis, the government launched new payment schemeto compensate households for rapidly rising costs. Support is even PLN 3000 per yearBut not everyone will get it. Check who is eligible for the payment and what are the terms of the program.
Why did energy subsidies be introduced?
The increases in energy prices in Poland are the consequence of respective factors. Since 2022, electricity bills averaged up 70%, and for any farms costs have increased by up to 100%. advanced fossil fuel prices, emanation taxation and restrictions on access to cheaper natural materials have made the situation critical.
New subsidies are intended to relief of household budgets and defend the poorest against energy exclusion. Power underlines that the program is Temporary, and its aim is to support Poles until the marketplace stabilises.
Who can receive a bill surcharge?
Not all household will benefit from the payment. To qualify for support, you gotta meet specific income conditions:
- Single-person holding – monthly income must not exceed PLN 2500 gross.
- Multi-person holding – income per individual must not exceed PLN 1700 gross.
In addition, support is granted to persons utilizing electricity as the main heating source. This means that gas or coal heating farms will not benefit from the full amount of aid.
What are the amounts of subsidies?
The amount of aid depends on the energy consumption and income of the farm. The benefit may be from 800 PLN to 3000 PLN per year. The breakdown is as follows:
- 800 zł – for single-person households with low energy consumption.
- PLN 1500 – for families of 2-4 people with average energy consumption.
- 2500 zł – for large families (over 4 people) who consume more than 2000 kWh per year.
- PLN 3000 – maximum payment for disabled or multi-children households.
The benefit will not be paid in cash – alternatively measures will go straight to energy suppliers, lowering the accounts of the recipients.
How do I apply for a surcharge?
Those wishing to benefit from the programme must submit an application until 30 June 2025. This can be done in respective ways:
- Electronic – via the ePUAP platform or the municipal office website.
- Personally – at the city or municipality office.
- Through Polish Post – sending papers by post.
The application must be accompanied by:
- Income certificate from the last six months.
- Electric energy invoice confirming advanced wear.
- Declaration of the number of persons in the household.
Who will NOT be able to pay?
Although the program aims to support households, not everyone will benefit from the aid. Payments will not receive:
- Persons with income above the limits.
- Property owners above 150 m2.
- People heating houses with gas, pellets or fuel oil.
- Locals without separate power meters.
In case of exceeding income thresholds, households may receive aid less in accordance with the rule of “gold for gold”.
Is this the end of the energy price increases?
The rulers guarantee that subsidies are to minimise the effects of increases, but experts inform that energy prices will grew further. Forecasts for 2025 indicate that an average household can pay even 20% more for electricity and gas prices stay high.
Long-term solutions require modernisation of energy networksinvestment in RES and stabilising the situation on the natural materials markets. Until then, subsidies are the only way to mitigate the effects of increases for Polish families.
