A submarine unmanned from the Crime laboratory of the Military Gendarmerie allows to search for and inspect the bottom of the waters besides where the diver will not arrive. It can penetrate the water to a depth of 200 m, and it besides helps to find the sunken objects. “This kind of equipment is the future in forensics,” says Colonel Bartosz Klepczyński, head of LKŻW.
– Modern submarine is the latest and unique device in equipment Military Police Crime Lab – says Colonel Bartosz Klepczyński, Head of LKZW in Minsk Mazowiecki. Recently, the gendarmes trained the usage of a drone in the water-filled shafts of the old gold mine in the Golden Stok in Lower Silesia.
We've sunk into the shaft up to 24 meters. The operator was able to overcome further stages of the route, bends and alleys to catch the foundry from the bottom, explains Colonel Klepczyński. The WZW soldiers train with fresh equipment and test the capabilities of drones besides in Mazury lakes, rivers with a strong current or ponds with low water transparency. As Colonel Klepczyński emphasizes, thanks to the equipment it is possible to look underwater without the request to usage divers. The drone is equipped with a 200-meter cable, which allows it to go under water or sail distant from the operator. On the front there is simply a advanced resolution camera that transmits the image in very good quality.
Additional equipment, including various types of grippers, can besides be fitted to the drone. They take samples of water or substrates from the bottom. It is besides possible to take various items, and even bodies from water without hazard of damage. Although the burden of equipment is only about 2 kg, a peculiar cabolin gives it the chance to pull even very dense objects from the bottom.
There is besides a buy-in to the sonar drone, which allows to map the bottom of the full reservoir, show its shape, or find abandoned objects there. The drone is located in a large case and is operated by an operator equipped with a monitor, on which he sees what the camera on the equipment shows and records. The device can be powered by a 220 V current or a battery that lasts for 3 hours.
Drone went to the laboratory in late 2024. The large request to acquisition this device was indicated by the experience of searching for corpses in water reservoirs. During 1 of specified missions – the search for Grzegorz Boris, a military fishy in the execution of his 6-year-old boy – a diver who went under a floating island died.
Gendarmeria besides uses drones in investigative and investigative activities to find hidden objects after the crime. Equipment works perfectly, for example, in the case of search for sunk, even years ago, cars. Medical specialists frequently support another services in investigations, including police X-Files.
As Colonel Klepczyński emphasizes, the usage of drones is developing rapidly and more and more units of WWW will be equipped with specified equipment. They already usage flying unmanned workers, among others in preventive actions during the designation of objects or the securing of ceremonies.
