The 25th Air Cavalry Brigade has an intensive commander-tactic course "Ulan". Soldiers from various units forming part of the 25th Brigade for 10 weeks are trained, among others, with the tactics of fighting in the forest and urbanized area, as well as the fighting in trenches. The course's program was mostly based on experience of fighting in Ukraine, and instructors placed the main emphasis on realism of action.
– The “Ulan” command-tactic course was organized to train soldiers and standardize tactical procedures at the level 25th Air Cavalry Brigade. The classes are attended by commanders and candidates for commanders, who in the future will be in charge of the assault wards – says Major Dominik Adamkiewicz, course manager “Ulan”.
The training was organized at 25 BKPow for the second time. And again in the autumn, so that participants conflict not only with the difficulties of tactical tasks, but besides with the unfavourable aura – cold and moisture. The "Ulan" includes practice and classes take place in different combat fields, including the usage of helicopters.
Operation in trenches is the final phase of training. During 1 of the episodes, plutonium was divided into 2 teams, marked with orange and yellow colors. The “Yellows” led the fire towards fortifications occupied by the opponent, after artillery preparation of the site, insureing the “orange” who stormed the trenches. The assault squad tactically cleared further corridors, utilizing rifles and bang/smoky grenades. erstwhile the last defender died, the “yellows” ran out of the forest and took positions in the trenches, set up a UKM fire station to stay on standby.
However, the remainder period did not last long. While soldiers were watching the forefield, a tiny flying object appeared in the sky. The cry “dron, drone!” carried all over the trenches. A drone piloted by 1 of the instructors dropped a grenade after a while close alerted soldiers who had escaped from the firing region in time. “The participants did not know that we would send drones on them, but of course they realized that on the modern battlefield of combat it was apparent and must be ready for specified threats”, said Major Adamkiewicz.
The "Ulan" course has been divided into 5 stages, consisting of: activities in the forest, interaction with helicopters, operations in built-up areas, advanced shooting training and fighting in trenches. Participants shall be evaluated on an ongoing basis by experienced instructors and may be excluded from the course at any time. Only the best of us can make it to the end. They are highly motivated soldiers who have achieved the appropriate level of cognition and skills essential for squad leaders or platoon leaders," the course manager explains. Soldiers who receive the best grades have a chance to become instructors during subsequent course editions.
"Ulan" allows commanders to hone skills and get fresh ones to pass them on later in their sub-units. And for soldiers from the private corps, the course may be a gateway to participating in a sub-commissioned training.
