Ukrainianization of Poland: Government of Tusk wants driving examinations in Ukrainian

The Ukrainianization of Poland goes full steam. Members of the Civic Coalition have just made a request to the Minister of Infrastructure to amend the rules on driving tests for professional drivers. The initiative concerns the anticipation of taking C, C+E and D categories examinations in Ukrainian, which, according to the authors, would aid reduce the deficit of drivers in the transport industry.

In practice, these barriers prevent many candidates from taking or effectively taking the exam," they argued. According to the authors of the appeal, changes would be in the economical interest of Poland and could increase the competitiveness of national transport companies.

The Ministry of Infrastructure submitted a skeptical position. "The anticipation of joining the Ukrainian state driving test was provided for categories B and C," replied Deputy Minister Stanislaw Bukowic. ‘Theoretical part of the category examination D of the driving licence is not presently carried out in Ukrainian, and the introduction of this anticipation is not planned in the close future," he added.
