At the beginning of the week, Karol Nawrocki announced that he would not sign the law on aid to Ukrainians. This decision has sparked rather a stir among politicians, citizens and the media. On Tuesday, the government referred to the case. On the same day, on the evening programme on Polsat News, the writer of the editorial portal "International Observer" Vitali Mazurenko spoke.

Vitali Mazurenko on Karol Nawrocki: Pachan. That's what it means.

The guest of Tuesday's "Gozdyra Debates" at Polsat News was Vitali Mazurenko. The writer then referred to president Karol Nawrocki as a "pachan". The word means "criminal leader in Russian prisons".

Agnieszka Gozdyr, the programme manager, reacted: "This is offensive to the head of the Polish state and I think that you should consider whether specified a word is in place. You're comparing the Polish president to a individual in a prison environment.

Ukrainian writer disagreed. – I compare the behaviour of a peculiar person, does not want to undermine the institution of the President. His behaviour hits defenceless Ukrainian immigrants," he said.

The journalist's words met with a decisive consequence from the president's environment. The head of his law firm, Zbigniew Bogucki, wrote in social media that Mazurenko "should be publically prosecuted for publically insulting the president of the Republic of Poland".

"This behaviour of the Ukrainian who received Polish citizenship powerfully confirms the right initiative of the president of Poland to extend to 10 years of permanent residence in our country, after which it is only possible to apply for Polish citizenship." - wrote Bogucki.

In turn the President's spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, added: "If anyone had any doubts that useful idiots support antagonisms fueled by cynical politicians, then after today's speeches, these doubts should no longer be in doubt. And the question in whose interest it is, the answer is obvious."

"International Observer" reacts. Mazurenko has already lost his job

Vitali Mazurenko published an apology on social media. "Dear fellow citizens. I was profoundly sad to accept the fact that my speech on the 'Gozdyr Debate' programme yesterday offended many of you. Vox populi, vox Dei (the voice of the people is the voice of God - ed.)" we read.

He added: "As a citizen of the Republic of Poland, I want to emphasize that I have the institutions of the state at the head of the president of the Republic of Poland in full respect. I apologize to everyone whose feelings may have been affected by my words."

However, the editorial "International Observer" informed about the end of cooperation with Mazurenko. The message emphasized that his words were "the individual opinion of this person, spoken without the cognition and approval of the editorial board. In no way does it reflect the position of our editorial board and does it fit into the values that we follow."

"As a Polish portal, we absolutely do not accept and tolerate questioning the seriousness of the office of president of the Republic of Poland. Our values are based on reliable journalism, work for the word and full respect for the institutions of the Polish State and its representatives" – we read.

"We inform you that the decision to terminate cooperation with Mr. Vitali Mazurenko was taken immediately. This individual besides loses the function of deputy editor-in-chief in our editorial board" – he said.
