Ukraine has concluded an agreement with Britain

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski reported on Saturday evening that Kiev and London signed a debt agreement to rise Ukraine's defence capabilities, and that it is to be repaid from gross from frozen Russian assets.


"London. crucial and warm gathering with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. We discussed (...) the challenges facing Ukraine and Europe today, coordination with partners, concrete steps towards strengthening Ukraine's position and ending the war through fair peace, credible safety guarantees" - wrote Zelenski on Telegram on Saturday evening.

"The basic words of support from the Prime Minister and the crucial decision: present in our presence, a credit agreement was signed between Ukraine and the UK. A debt to strengthen our defence capabilities, which will be repaid from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets. The money will be utilized to produce weapons in Ukraine. That's how it's fair: The 1 who started the war should pay" - stressed the Ukrainian leader.

He thanked the nation of large Britain and the government in London "for his large support since the start of this war".

We are happy to have specified strategical partners (...) - he concluded.

London behind Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance had previously notified the conclusion of the agreement. As transferred, a debt agreement of £2.26 billion (about €2.74 billion) to support Ukrainian defence capabilities was signed in the presence of Zelenski and Starmer.

Zelenski met Starmer on Saturday on Downing Street. Prior to the talks, the British Prime Minister assured that London would stand by Ukraine as long as necessary.
