The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed the erstwhile president of the board of the state-owned Naftogaz (Ukrainian oil and oil company, it can be compared to our Orlen - ed.) Serhiy Koretsky to the position of prime minister. His candidacy, put forward by president Volodymyr Zelensky, was voted for by 289 deputies in the 450-seat parliament.
