The head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed the position of the Ukrainian authorities on the question of making concessions and giving Russia part of its territory. Ukrainians want to proceed the war. The problem is that without the aid of Western countries, they would have suffered a terrible defeat long ago.
Prior to the start of the first NATO-Ukraine Council gathering at the level of abroad ministers, Dmytro Kułęba told journalists that Ukraine would not quit the goal of restoring control of the border from 1991. In consequence to questions from journalists about making concessions with the Russian Federation by giving part of the east territory, he said: – People who propose this should first offer something akin to their own governments – give a part of their territory, their people. Let them do it, and we'll see if we can discuss it.
Then, after expressing his desire to proceed the war with Russia, Kuleba appealed to the U.S. and another NATO countries for further assistance in the arms of Ukraine, at the same time suggesting that Ukrainians are fighting in defence... West.
– The best way to avoid your soldiers' engagement in war is to aid those who wage war. You give weapons – we fight, this is simply a fair deal – stated.
