Ukraine: We signed a declaration that means a defence alliance with the Wlk. United Kingdom

Deputy Head of the Office of the president of Ukraine Ihor Zowkwa stated that the declaration of deepening cooperation in the field of safety and defence industry, signed on 17 March in London, actually means the creation of a defence alliance between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

The declaration was signed by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

"This is simply a logical continuation of our earlier arrangements: 100-year partnership agreements and safety agreements between Ukraine and the UK. At the same time, it is simply a transition from political decisions to concrete, applicable cooperation between the defence sectors of our countries," Zowkwa wrote on Facebook.

He explained that, according to the agreement, Ukraine would share its combat experience, technologies and solutions, the effectiveness of which was tested in the defence war with Russia. It's all about drones, radio-electronic combat and modern war tactics. For its part, Britain will invest and aid increase arms production.

"Our countries will research the anticipation of joint production of long-range shock measures and scaling of applicable programmes. In parallel, the UK will consider the most effective mechanisms for expanding production volumes and supporting these solutions. It is no longer about individual deliveries, but about building a common defence and industrial ecosystem" - said Zowkwa.

He revealed that Kiev and London are working to fill critical gaps in air defense. This includes the capture of drones, the improvement of means of detection and the integration of systems to combat maneuvering missiles, and the enhancement of capabilities to fight ballistic missiles.

"This is simply a question of safety not only for Ukraine but besides for the UK and for Europe as a whole," said Zowkwa. "This is simply a common improvement of Europe's fresh safety architecture based on experience, technology and common trust. Ukraine in this strategy is not only a recipient of assistance, but a full partner and co-founder of security", he said.
