UGLE (Great United Lodge of England) celebrates global Women's Day and joins efforts to inspire integration worldwide.

Can women join the masonry? That's an eternal question they frequently ask us in UGLE. Answer – a big, loud “yes”!

The masons have been gathering all over the country for over a century. They do so through 2 women's large Lodges, The Order of Women Freemasons and HFAF – Freemasonry for Women. These lodges reflect their male counterparts in both ceremonies and outfits, and their members frequently cooperate in charitable activities in their communities.

Founded in 1908, the Masonic Women's Order is the oldest and largest Masonic organization for women throughout the country. Open to women of all religions and environments over 21, The Order follows the same principles and practices as male masons. It has over 4000 members in 300 lodges in the UK and beyond. The lodges meet at least 4 times a year, frequently organizing charity events and social gatherings to strengthen ties in their communities.

In order to celebrate global Women's Day and to better realize women's freedom, past and function in the modern world, we met Elizabeth Porter, an experienced mason and the Grand Steward of the Mason Women's Order.
