EU/ EC: Algerian Air Express on the airline blacklist

The European Commission has published the 48th EU list of dangerous airlines. It was removed by carriers from Kyrgyzstan, but the Algerian airline Air Express was added," said spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen today.

As the spokesperson said, the EU Air Safety List (ASL) informs passengers about which airlines are subject to a ban or regulation of flights in the EU due to the fact that they do not meet global safety standards.

Lines on the blacklist of air carriers are prohibited from flying to and from the European Union and from flying over its territory. The prohibition may be complete – and shall apply to all aircraft belonging to the line and personnel working for the carrier, or partial – erstwhile certain machinery which may proceed to operate are excluded from the prohibition.

The EC regularly updates the list, based on the opinion of EU aviation safety experts gathering within the EU Air Safety Committee, and then decides to delete or add the carrier to the list. For the first time the list was announced 20 years ago, and the update of the list is already 48th in turn published by the EC on Monday.
