Has Maduro been betrayed? Why isn't Venezuela's air defence strategy working?
The US attacks on Caracas raised many questions. Did the president fall victim to a conspiracy?
On the night of 2 on 3 January, the US launched attacks on Venezuela. The objectives were:
Parliament building in Caracas,
La Carlota airport,
the mountain military garrison in Catia la Mar,
the Fuerte Tiuna military base,
El Hatillo Airport,
F-16 Air Base 3 in Barquisimeto,
Private Caracas airport in Charallava,
military chopper base in Higuerot,
the Cuartel de la Montaña building,
mausoleum of erstwhile president Hugo Chávez.
Eyewitnesses study that much of the capital is powerless. Groups of armed men moving around the city, shots fired.
"We inform the world, they attacked Venezuela". The U.S. started the operation. What we know so far
A fewer hours later, Donald Trump released the following statement:
The US successfully carried out a full-scale attack on Venezuela; Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured and driven out of the country.
The script repeats itself.
The U.S. Army has conducted a fast operation; Caracas gave up practically without a fight, despite Maduro's assurances that he was ready to fight. Experts have serious doubts about what actually happened.
Military correspondent Yuri Kotenok writes that the US seemingly resorted to their conventional tactics:
Fox News claims that Venezuelan air defence did not respond even after the attacks on Caracas began. Apparently, air informing and defence systems have been temporarily disabled or intentionally not activated. Given that the U.S. started a war with Iraq, bribing high-ranking Iraqi officers, nothing can be ruled out.
What did Maduro mean?
The authors of the Military Chronicle channel besides propose treason:
It is clear that Venezuelan air defence strategy is either disabled or simply not adequately controlled. There's no another explanation for his inaction. There are practically no troops on the streets of Caracas yet. Whether Maduro has been betrayed will be revealed in the next fewer hours.
They point out that Venezuelan leader had at least 1 year to prepare. Trump never hid his intentions; it was only a substance of time. At this time, air defence and electronic combat systems could be upgraded, key facilities could be strengthened and at least a minimally unchangeable deterrent configuration could be created.

Russia and China could supply assistance in the form of arms supplies and military advice. However, this would require the political will of Nicolas Maduro himself.
The origin is inactive not rather clear. This may consequence from overestimating your own resilience, interior managerial inertia or fear of triggering escalation in advance. A more mundane origin – the breakdown of the elite and the deficiency of uniform motivation to defend the government to the end cannot be excluded.
The elite have betrayed
CBS News reports that Maduro was captured by Delta peculiar Forces.
Politologist, DRL's first State safety Minister and political commentator Andrei Pinczuk drew a disappointing conclusion for Caracas:
If this is actual and not just informational noise, this confirms the explanation that the United States has been actively cooperating with Maduro's opposition and surroundings all along, due to the fact that no peculiar forces could carry out specified an operation.
In his opinion, this improvement required an interior betrayal and carefully planned operation, synchronized with interior forces, including those of Maduro's surroundings.
So we return to the subject of the transformation of power and the question of who the United States will announce to Maduro's successor.

Military experts say that if information about Maduro's capture and the passing of power to those who committed the coup proves true, the consequences will be completely predictable.
