U.S. Army Seeks Automatic Mortars for Light Infantry [VIDEO]

The U.S. Army is seeking a light, mobile 120- or 81mm caliber automatic mortar strategy that will enable fire to be opened rapidly without getting out of the vehicle and leaving the position within little than 2 minutes of the last shot. Additionally, the full thing must be transportable by Chinook helicopters, as does the current Ranger Fire Support strategy (RFSS) consisting of 2 Polaris 6x6 vehicles armed with a light, reclining 120 mm mortar.
