That's how much you'll pay for fuel after US sanctions. How is that possible if Russia is to suffer?

Only Donald Trump announced sanctions on Russian oil companies, and analysts are already promising an increase in fuel prices in Poland. Wait, wait, how? The sanctions were expected to hit Russia, not Polish drivers. It is besides not a secret that more costly fuels mean another increases, due to the fact that more costly transport. Or are we unconsciously riding Russian oil?

According to "Puls Biznesu", the president of the Institute of Energy Studies Andrzej Sikora stated that US sanctions on Russian oil companies will most affect Europe at diesel prices, but another fuels will besides increase. How much? About 5-7 grams per liter. But why?

The US sanctions were expected to hurt Russia, and they would pay drivers in Poland?

Sikora explains that fuels imported from China and India are utilized throughout the European Union. And these 2 powerful and immense countries are the main recipients of Russian oil. So far, they bought it very cheaply, reworked and resold it further. Fuels from Chinese and Indian refineries were so based on banned Russian oil.

Now that's going to change, at least in part. It is known that India will follow Trump's decisions. The country has announced that it will closely check the origin of oil to guarantee that it does not process natural material from Russia. With China, you never know, so it is hard to foretell whether and how sanctions will affect fuel prices from the mediate Country. However, it should be noted that China has announced a halt to purchases of oil from Russia for now.

However, it turns out that raising fuel prices by a fewer cents is inactive a comparatively mild consequence for drivers. It can be much worse in Hungary, de facto addicted to Russian oil, or in Serbia and Romania, reworking Russian oil.

Trump's first sanctions

Let us recall: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the introduction of sanctions for 2 Russian fuel and energy companies. It's about Rossnieft and Łukoil. This is the first sanctions introduced during Trump's second word of office (as of 20 January 2025). The American president has spoken a lot so far, but has not made decisions that could hurt Russian oligarchs and the economy.

This U.S. movement did not delight the spokesperson for the Ministry of abroad Affairs of Russia Maria Zacharova. She called it "a totally non-productive signal" and added that Russia's stated targets of "special military operation" (as the Kremlin calls the war in Ukraine which it launched) stay unchanged and form the starting point in dialog with the US and another states on "regulation" of conflict in Ukraine.
