Race against time – soldiers of the 6th Mazovia Territorial Defence Brigade have been helping to remove the effects of floods for 2 months and work is inactive huge. The CIMIC teams, Civil-Military Cooperation, work with the civilian side almost from the beginning, to aid them get there in time and with work before winter.
The scale of the harm brought by the component resembles the effects of war – destroyed houses, roads, broken power lines, dead telephone relays and hundreds of residents who lost their lives. From the first days after the large Water Pass, military specialists have been working on the site – Civil-military cooperation teams. First, they supported the provision of the most needed articles, now the precedence is to improve the reconstruction of flood-stricken areas.
CIMIC means civil-military cooperation
CIMIC is simply a strategy that involves the cooperation of military forces with civilian authorities. To date, the concept has been mainly known for its abroad missions, where NATO troops have supported the reconstruction of areas after armed conflicts. Following the decision of the commander of the Territorial Defence Army, the CIMIC teams became the backbone of operations Phoenix – selected soldiers traverse cities and villages, contacting local governments at all levels and residents and analyzing their needs. Civil-military soldiers are individuals who in their units are specialists in crisis management.
Mazowieckie specialists in the Kłodzka Basin
