TVP announces the debate. Pretend political pluralism?

Onet and Virtual Poland study that the debate will take place at 9 p.m. at the TVP office on Woroniczna Street. There is no audience in the studio. The debate will be attended by representatives of Law and Justice, the civilian Coalition, the 3rd Way, the Left, the Confederacy and the Unpartisan Local Government. Invitations to these committees have already been sent by Polish Television.

The parties will decide who will represent them. So far there's no clear indication that this is about organization leaders. The TVP underlines that all the details of the debate will be determined at a gathering between the representatives of the committees to be held next Wednesday. During the gathering there will besides be a draw on the order of the candidates' statements. Another unknown is the individual who will lead the debate. In 2019, the lead was Michał Adamczyk.

Onet informs, on the basis of talks with the party's spokespersons, that both the Civic Coalition and the Law and Justice have not yet decided who could represent them during the TVP debate. The typical has besides not chosen the Confederate, the decision will belong to the electoral staff. The left will most likely be represented by Joanna Scheering-Wielgus, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz Bąk or Katarzyna Kotula.

Witold Tumanowicz, the chief of staff of the Confederate, in a conversation with Onet, stated that the invitation to the debate was no surprise to his group. According to TVP, he “does not do them any favor.” Tumanowicz explains that public media are paid from the state budget and are obliged to present the full political spectrum.

According to journalists of Virtual Poland, the final decision of the groups will depend on the conditions to be established during the organizational meeting. PO politicians began appearing on the programs after they announced their return to TVP. However, it should be borne in head that the functioning of TVP was criticized by the spokesperson for PSL, Miłosz Motyka, in the program “Tlit” WP. Motyka stated that there is simply a black list of politicians who cannot participate in TVP Info programs. He suggested that his and Darius Klimczak's shares were cancelled as shortly as they applied for the programs. Motyka expressed scepticism towards claims that TVP cared for pluralism.

According to another WP information, Donald Tusk would accept an invitation to TVP, but only under respective conditions.
