The head of the Polish government began a visit to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday morning. He went to Kiev at the invitation of president Volodymyr Zelenski. At the Kiev railway station he was welcomed by the Ukrainian abroad Minister Andrij Sybiha, as well as the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland and the Polish Ambassador to Ukraine.
New armored aid package
The main intent of the visit was to sign a letter of intent on the joint production of weapons and ammunition. – This is more than an introduction to applicable cooperation. The head of government added that Poland can transfer Ukraine to MiG-29 fighters "at any time", but president Volodymyr Zelenski pointed out that another elements of air defence are now a priority; the subject is to be clarified after the return of the Polish delegation. “I will talk about our real opportunities with ministers and generals,” said Tusk during a press conference. “I would like to thank all Poles who have mobilised to aid in this dramatic period of cold and darkness caused by Russia’s attacks,” he added, referring, among others, to the action “The heat from Poland for Kiev”.
Important conference in June
During the visit, Prime Minister Tusk laid a wreath at the Ukrainian suspect Memorial Wall, paying tribute to fallen soldiers fighting against Russian aggression. Together with president Zelenski, he besides honored the memory of Polish victims of Russian crimes in Byków. They happened in Stalinist times; the remains of 1994 murdered Poles from the alleged Ukrainian Katyn list remainder in Bykownia.
