Sweden applied for NATO membership with Finland, in May 2022. Her candidacy was blocked for over a year by Turkey's further demands and Hungarian passivity. On Monday evening, Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured that his country would ratify Sweden's accession, which is considered the last step towards Stockholm's accession to the Alliance.
