Turkey, located in 1 of the most politically unstable regions in the world, has always been ruled by pragmatism. Although it is presently geographically and militarily located in the Western bloc, in a broader economical dimension it is doomed to cooperate with Russia. This, in turn, makes it essential to search balance in the process of determining further directions of the country's abroad policy. For Turkey, the continuation of existing relations with Russia, and even their deepening, while maintaining NATO membership, is simply a hard but essential condition. Since the beginning of the war, Turkey has managed to support both the Ukrainian military effort and the war-torn Russian economy.
