Turkey fights for its F-16 independency [COMMENTARY]

After being expelled from Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) and in the face of an extended Kaan fighter program, Turkey is looking for temporary solutions that will enable it to keep the importance of its own air force in the region. Today, the core of its fleet of combat aircraft is around 250 F-16C/D, which slow lose their value in the face of ever-fast technological advancement in the planet and the introduction of subsequent generation aircraft by regional rivals: Israel (F-35I), Greece (F-35A) and Russia (Su-57).
