Six years ago, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on BRICS leaders to welcome his state into the organization. Nevertheless, in subsequent years Turkish officials did not attend any meetings. Only last July did Turkish representation send a lower rank typical to a gathering of BRICS national safety advisers in Johannesburg. The last visit by Turkish abroad minister Hakan Fidan shows, however, that Turkey's ambition does not end there.
