Wind turbines are 1 of the latest goals of the United States and the European Union trade war with China. Chinese wind turbine exports increased by over 60% last year. During this period, producers sent outside the PRC turbines capable of producing more than 3.6 gigawatts while searching for areas for further growth in sales on abroad markets. These turbines were exported to 18 countries, with the largest recipients being Uzbek contractors, Egypt, South Africa, Laos and Chile. According to the study of the Chinese Wind Energy Association (chin. 中国风能协会) it was there that more than 65% of last year's Chinese wind turbine exports went.
All these countries are active in the initiative “One Belt and 1 Road” (chin. “一带一路).
As data indicate, neither the USA nor Europe are the most crucial abroad markets for Chinese turbine manufacturers. These producers, influenced by apparent geopolitical risks, are increasingly seeking alternate markets to those with expanding uncertainty. They activate abroad due to the fact that competition is expanding in China itself, the price war between competitors is increasing, and thus profits from sales in China itself are decreasing.

The average bid price for Chinese land wind turbine projects in the last 3 years has fallen by half, from 3000 RMB (approx. 1636 PLN) to about 1500 RMB per kilowat (approx. 818 PLN).
One of the biggest companies in the industry, Goldwind discipline & Technology Co. Ltd (chin. 金风科技有限公司), reported a sharp decline in profits and even losses over the last 2 years.

Subsidies for producers (the main allegation of the EU and the United States utilizing precisely the same stimulus tools) only have a tiny impact on the price competitiveness of these or another Chinese products. This is simply a marketplace mechanics and a comparative advantage. This is worth remembering even with respect to the Chinese socialist marketplace economy.
The details are interesting. Especially the supply chains. Among wind turbine manufacturers we have respective tycoons that do not come from China (Denmark, USA, Germany), but...
It is worth checking what materials are essential to produce key components of power generators in wind turbines and who manufactures these materials. Not who sells them, who makes them.
