More than 180 migrants made their way to Poland on Thursday with a ten-foot tunnel dug outside the border with Belarus, reports PAP citing the Border Guard. The situation could have looked a lot more serious if electronic systems hadn't worked.
Sensors detected a border breach, which allowed in a short time to detain 130 people who illegally crossed the Polish-Belarusian border. Among the detainees are the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan, but besides migrants from India, Nepal and Bangladesh. In parallel, 2 drivers — a Pole and a Lithuanian — were to choice up the group and carry it further to the West. The search for another people who entered Poland through the tunnel continues.
A spokesperson for the Border Guard, Colonel Andrzej Jużwiak, confirmed that the dig was discovered in the Narewka area. The tunnel began 50 metres deep in Belarus and ended only 10 metres beyond the Polish dam. Inside it had a tallness of about 1.5 metres, and so it was not a plan that was created overnight.
That's the 4th known dig in this section of the border this year. The SG stresses that physical barriers and electronic systems let us to respond to akin tests almost immediately today.
