The president of the United States has decided to make an different move. Donald Trump besides decided to take over the state protectorate of the movie industry, imposing 100% tariffs on... films produced abroad. "Hollywood and many another parts of the United States are devastated," wrote American president on his actual Social social platform.
On Sunday, May 4, Donald Trump announced the introduction of tariffs on abroad movie industry. The president of the United States stated that he would "immediately" start imposing 100% tariffs on abroad movie productions due to the "very fast death" of the American amusement industry, which Trump felt could not cope with competition from outside the US.
In an interview with journalists, the president of the United States estimated that another countries "stealed the United States movie industry", tempting producers with subsidies. He declared that "he would correct the mistakes of the predecessors who had allowed it."
Trump will impose 100% duties on... abroad films
"The American movie manufacture is dying very rapidly (...) Hollywood and many another parts of the United States are devastated," said Trump in an entry on the fact Social platform. The service is privately owned by the president of the United States. "Other countries offer all kinds of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios distant from the United States," he added.
Trump even stated that it was a “coordinated effort” which poses a threat to US national security.
The president of the United States seemingly felt that the American movie manufacture could be doing even better than it is today. In 2023, ocean movies generated a full income of $29.9 billion. By 2030 this is expected to be $47.7 billion.
It is unclear whether the US actually pays more for abroad movie productions, whether most of the profits stay in the US – besides due to the sale of rights to issue hundreds of full-length images that are displayed in European and global cinemas each year.
