U.S. president Donald Trump said there is no request to extend the moratorium to higher duties as the United States plans to make favorable agreements.

"We will negociate trade agreements (ed.), but we will besides conclude agreements. We will simply set a tariff and it will be reasonable, very reasonable, and it will be the end of the agreement," Trump said on board the plane flying to Rome for the ceremony of Pope Francis.

During his interview with journalists Trump did not regulation out the anticipation of extending the work period for another 90 days, but said it was unlikely.

On April 2, president Trump announced the imposition of duties on goods from 185 countries and territories. Universal tariffs of 10% entered into force on 5 April and individual tariffs entered into force on 9 April.

On the same day, the president announced a 90-day suspension of additional import duties, which were imposed on a reciprocal basis on certain countries and territories. During this period, only a "universal tariff of 10%" will apply.
