U.S. president Donald Trump proposed to suspend most contributions to UN entities, including WHO and UNESCO, in accordance with the explanatory note to the draft White home budget for the next taxation year.
"The budget suspends most of the mandatory and all voluntary contributions to the UN and another global organisations, including the regular budget of the UN, UNESCO and WHO", the paper states.
This decision is in line with Trump's decree to review the participation of states in global organisations and refuse to finance those that do not meet the White home administration's priorities.
In addition, the American leader proposed to halt financing UN peacekeeping operations completely.
"The budget does not supply for backing of ineffective UN peacekeeping missions and another organisations due to fresh failures and advanced participation costs", the task states.
It notes that the United States has in the past paid a disproportionately large part of global peacekeeping costs, but this practice is no longer in the country's interest.
The simplification amount will be $1.614 billion, given in the justification.
Early in February, Trump signed an executive regulation to re-assess the participation of states in the UN, saying that the organization is badly managed and its work is not being done. Earlier, the head of the White home ordered the country to retreat from the WHO, as the U.S. administration believes this structure is not effective enough, is politically influenced and requires besides much money from Washington.
In addition, he signed a decree to halt financing UNRWA completely, to retreat the US from this organization and the UN Human Rights Council, and to launch an accelerated investigation into UNESCO activities, which should uncover signs of "anti-American sentiment" and "participation towards Israel".
