Berlin and Washington are inactive sparking. The Vice Chancellor of Germany joined the criticism of the president of the United States and Donald Trump threatened to retreat American soldiers from Germany.

– We truly don't request any advice from Donald Trump right now. He should see the mess he's made. Make certain that serious peace talks begin in Iran," said Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil on Friday (105.2026).

In this way, he reacted to another critical remarks by the U.S. president against Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who had previously accused Trump of having no strategy on the war against Iran.

– This is what I am saying in the context of the last days erstwhile he spoke about the German government and Chancellor," Klingbeil stressed during the labour Day celebration in Bergkamen, Ruhr.

The Berlin–Washington line has been exchanged for respective days. On Monday (27.04.2026), during a discussion with students in Sauerland, Merz accused Trump that the United States had "absolutely entered this war with Iran without any strategy". “The full nation is humiliated by the Iranian authorities,” said Merz about attempts to negociate peace with Tehran.

In response, Trump wrote on his actual Social platform that Merz “has no thought what he's talking about.” He again suggested the anticipation of withdrawing American soldiers from Germany.

On Thursday (30.04.2026) the president of the United States reiterated his criticism. He wrote on fact Social that alternatively of dealing with the war with Iran, the German chancellor should alternatively "take more time" at the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine, in which he stated Merz "achieved nothing". Furthermore, the Chancellor should "order his fallen country," Trump added.

Europe cannot be blackmailed

Lars Klingbeil's Friday message is another aspect of the dispute. The leader of the German Social Democracy agreed with the Chancellor's opinion Germany that the president of the United States entered a war with Iran without a strategy. “I think he truly thought it was two, 3 days and then everything would be fine,” he said. “Now he is liable for ensuring that the war with Iran is over quickly,” added the Minister of Finance.

– First of all, he should guarantee that the burden of his war does not fall on us: on workers, consumers and the economy," Klingbeil added.

However, it is besides crucial that Europe is economically strong adequate to "not be blackmailed" - he stressed. I don't want us to be addicted to the temper Donald Trump is in present or tomorrow.
