U.S. president Donald Trump urged Israel and Iran to immediately halt their military activities. On the fact Social platform, he stressed that both sides are moving towards ceasefire, and peace talks continue, although, as he pointed out, they could be torpedoed by “ignorance and stupidity”.
Trump's appeal came after another surge of tension in the mediate East. On Sunday, Iran carried out mark fire in Israel, and a fewer hours later, Israeli aviation attacked facilities in central and western Iran. Earlier, Tehran threatened to retaliate for Israeli operations aimed at Iran-supported Hezbollah.
In his entry, Trump reminded of maintaining the blockade of Iranian ports until a "final agreement" was reached and expressed his belief that conflict resolution could come quickly. Meanwhile, negotiations on the end of the war stay in stalemate, and commentators point to the increasing differences between Washington and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government regarding the further conduct of action towards Iran and Hezbollah.
