At least 32 people were killed and more than 700 were injured as a consequence of 2 strong earthquakes that invaded Venezuela. president Delcy Rodriguez, acting as President, stressed that the number of victims is likely to increase as the services are inactive gathering information from the most affected regions.
The state of La Guaira close Caracas was most severely affected. Social media shows recordings of collapsed buildings, destroyed streets and panic of residents. Many of them decided to spend the night outside, fearing further tremors and collapse of buildings. Due to infrastructure damage, the global airport serving the capital was closed.
